TUSCULUM BASEBALL ERUPTS FOR 16-2 WIN AT PFEIFFER

 

Carlos Rivera                MISENHEIMER, N.C. --- Carlos Rivera went 5-for-6 and scored three runs as the No. 23 Tusculum College baseball team defeated host Pfeiffer University 16-2 Wednesday afternoon.  The Pioneers (9-5) win their fourth straight game as five different Tusculum players recorded home runs in the contest.

 

                The Pioneers finished with 15 hits, including Maikol Gonzalez who went 3-for-5 at the plate, while scoring four runs and drove in two RBI, including a home run.  Rivera, Dustin Morrow and Matt Webb and Matt Ford each homered for the Pioneers.

 

                Tusculum jumped out to 4-0 advantage through four innings, before blowing up the contest with eight runs in the fifth.

 

                TC starter Boo Morrow recorded the victory as he went six innings, allowed six hits and struck out three in the win.

 

                The Pioneers are back in action on Friday night at 7 p.m. as Tusculum travels to Catawba College for the first game of a three-game SAC series at Newman Park.
