TUSCULUM
BASEBALL BLANKS STILLMAN 9-0
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. --- Christian
Rosa and Dustin Morrow each
recorded a double and a home run as the Tusculum College baseball team shutout
Stillman College 9-0 Tuesday afternoon at Tiger Field. The Pioneers improve to 12-8 overall, while
the Tigers fall to 9-13. It was a match-up
of two teams that advanced to the 2007 NCAA Division II South Regional.
Rosa went 2-for-4 to extend his
hitting streak to 16 games, while Morrow had a 2-for-3 day.
Rob Currie (1-2) and Ryan Pfleger combined on the shutout as the Tusculum duo
limited the Tigers to seven hits on the afternoon.
For a second straight game, Rosa
led off the contest with a home run.
Rosa led off Sunday’s second game at Mars Hill with a
round-tripper. For Rosa, it gives him
four home runs on the season.
Tusculum added three runs in the
second inning as Payden Houser led off with a double and
scored on Matt Webb’s base hit. Brandon
Behenna would double in Webb and he too would
later score on a two-out single by Carlos Rivera.
Morrow led off the third with a
home run, while Rosa followed with a RBI double in the fourth as Tusculum
jumped out to a 6-0 lead.
Currie went 5.2 innings to
record his first win as a Pioneer, while Pfelger tossed the final 3.1 innings to post his first save
of the year.
Maikol Gonzalez and Aaron Hudgins
recorded two hits each in the win. Chase Wilson (4-2) suffered the loss
for the Tigers.
Tusculum will be at Montevallo
tonight at 8 p.m. for a single game. The
Pioneers will face Stillman again on Wednesday to
wrap up the Alabama road trip.
