TUSCULUM’S ROSA, RIVERA USE LONG BALL IN 12-3 WIN AT MONTEVALLO

MONTEVALLO, Ala. --- Christian Rosa and Carlos Rivera each homered twice as the Tusculum baseball team defeated host Montevallo 12-3 Tuesday night at Johnson Field.

The Pioneers (13-8) erupted for seven runs in the second inning as Tusculum sent 12 batters to the plate, including Rivera who clubbed his first home run of the night, a two-run blast to score Rosa and himself.  Brandon Behenna also came through with a two-run double as Tusculum jumped out to an 8-0 advantage.

Tusculum plated three more runs in the fifth inning as Rosa blasted a two-run shot to right field and Rivera followed with a solo shot to right, his fourth round-tripper of the season.  Rosa went 3-for-4 on the night and scored four times as he extends his hitting streak to 17 games.  Rosa has also homered in his last three games, including a lead-off home run earlier on Tuesday at Stillman College.

Rivera went 3-for-5 with three RBI, while Behenna and Aaron Hudgins added two hits each.

Tusculum starter Boo Morrow (2-0) earned the victory as he went six innings, scattered five hits, allowed a run, walked one and struck out seven.

Tusculum will close out its Alabama road swing on Wednesday with a rematch against Stillman at 1 p.m.
