TUSCULUM
WRAPS UP ALABAMA TRIP WITH 9-0 WIN AT STILLMAN
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. --- Maikol Gonzalez
went 3-for-5 with a double and a home run as the Tusculum College baseball
team shutout host Stillman College 9-0 Wednesday
afternoon at Tiger Field. It marks
the second straight day the Pioneers (14-8) posted a 9-0 win on Stillman
(9-14).
Max Keleher, Morgan Tyson, Mat Galens and Tyler
Collins combined on the shutout for the Pioneers as Tusculum records its
fourth straight victory.
Tusculum posted 15 hits on the
day including multi-hit performances by Gonzalez, Carlos Rivera, Dustin Morrow
and Matt Webb. The Tusculum pitching corps limited the
Tigers to only three hits on the afternoon.
Tusculum plated three runs in
the first inning, including a RBI double by Gonzalez, his 10th of
the season. TC added three more runs in
the second frame as Rivera came through with a run-scoring double. Tusculum plated a run in the seventh and
added two more in the ninth, including a solo blast off the bat of Gonzalez for
his fifth home run of the season.
Keleher
(2-1) allowed one hit in his five innings of work as he walked two and struck
out a pair for his second victory of the season.
Tusculum returns home to host
Newberry for a three-game South Atlantic Conference series at Pioneer Park,
beginning with Friday’s 7 p.m. contest.
