TUSCULUM
CLIMBS BACK INTO COLLEGIATE BASEBALL
POLL, PIONEERS RANKED NO. 29
TUCSON, Ariz. --- For the first time in over a month, Tusculum
College has climbed back into the national rankings and is listed No. 29 in
this week’s Collegiate Baseball
Division II Poll announced College officials Monday.
The Pioneers (33-12) have won
nine of their last 10 games and 16 of 18 as TC returns to the poll for the
first time since Feb. 25 when Tusculum held down the No. 23 spot.
Mount Olive (40-4) maintains its
No. 1 ranking, while Sonoma State and Southern Arkansas are tied for
second. Emporia State is fourth while
defending national champion Tampa is fifth.
Delta State is sixth, followed by Columbus State, UC San Diego, Metro
State and Grand Valley State to round out the top 10.
West Chester and USC Aiken are
tied for 11th, followed by Abilene Christian, Erskine, Central
Missouri, Franklin Pierce, St. Joseph’s, Valdosta State, West Alabama, Mesa
State, Cal State Chico, Wayne State (Neb.), Catawba, Ouachita Baptist, Southern
Indiana, Lynn, Concord, Western Oregon, Tusculum and Francis Marion to round
out the poll.
Tusculum will host King College
on Tuesday night for a 6 p.m. non-conference tilt at Pioneer Park. It will be TC’s final tune-up for this weekend’s
Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament.
The six-team, double-elimination tournament is being held in Hickory,
N.C. and the Pioneers will face host Lenoir-Rhyne in a first round match-up on
Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
