TUSCULUM BASEBALL LISTED SECOND IN NCBWA REGION POLL

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. --- The Tusculum College baseball team has dropped one spot and is listed second in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II South Region poll announced College officials Monday.

Tusculum received 64 points and a first place vote in this week's poll.  The Pioneers improved its overall record to 44-12 while advancing to the finals of last weekend's Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament.  TC's 44 victories are tied for the most in school history and are currently the second most in the country.

Tampa regains the top spot in the region, earning 69 points and six first place votes.  Florida Southern is third behind TC with 56 points.  SAC Tournament champion Carson-Newman (39) is tied for fourth with Lynn (39) followed by Florida Gulf Coast (34), Nova Southeastern (30, Florida Tech (20), Lenoir-Rhyne (12) and Stillman (8).

The NCBWA South Region Poll is not used by the NCAA for selection purposes for the Division II postseason tournament.  The poll is conducted by media representatives and sports information directors covering teams in the South Region.

The Pioneers host No. 24 USC Upstate on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. contest.
