TUSCULUM
RANKED 17TH IN COLLEGIATE
BASEBALL POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. --- The Tusculum College baseball team has climbed
two spots and is ranked No. 17 in this week’s Collegiate Baseball Division II Coaches’ Poll announced officials
Monday. The Pioneers (38-13) received
206 points and is the highest ranked South Atlantic Conference team in the
poll.
Mount Olive continues to roll as
the Trojans are 49-5 and are once again the top-ranked team in the
country. One of those five losses came
against Tusculum in the three-game season-opening series in February. Delta State climbs five spots and is listed
second, while defending national champion Tampa is third. Abilene Christian is fourth, followed by
Sonoma State, Emporia State, Southern Arkansas, UC San Diego, Columbus State,
USC Aiken, Valdosta State, West Alabama, Cal State Chico, St. Joseph’s and
Erskine to round out the top half of the poll.
Wayne State (Neb.) is 16th,
followed by Tusculum, Wayne State (Mich.), Metro State, West Chester, Catawba,
Ouachita Baptist, Central Missouri State, Southern Indiana, Mesa State, Bryant,
West Virginia State, Ashland, North Georgia and Nebraska-Omaha.
Tusculum has wrapped up its
regular season and has already clinched an automatic berth for next month’s
NCAA Division II Tournament (May 15-18).
The Pioneers will be making their fourth trip to the NCAA South Regional
in the last six years.
