TUSCULUM BASEBALL BLANKS GOLDEN RAMS 10-0, PIONEERS SET SAC RECORD WITH 48TH WIN

 

                ALBANY, Ga. --- Raymond Ruggles and Tio McLean combined on a one-hit shutout as the 14th-ranked Tusculum College baseball team blanked host Albany State University 10-0 Sunday afternoon at Golden Rams Park.  Tusculum improves to 48-12 overall, establishing a new South Atlantic Conference record for most wins in a season.

 

                The Pioneers sweep the three-game weekend series, while wrapping up the regular season.  TC now awaits word of an at-large bid for next month’s NCAA Division II Tournament.  The announcement of the six-team South Regional field will be announced May 13.

 

                Ruggles (8-3) pitched the first six innings as he allowed a hit and struck out five, while McLean finished the game as he held the Golden Rams hitless, while striking out four.

 

                Christian Rosa went 3-for-5 with four RBI, including a two-run double in Tusculum’s three-run, fourth inning.

 

                Aaron Porter went 2-for-3 with a RBI, while Ben Swaggerty recorded a RBI double in a pinch-hitting effort.
