TUSCULUM REMAINS 12TH IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL

 

                TUCSON, Ariz. --- For a second straight week, the Tusculum College baseball team is ranked No. 12 in the nation according to this week's Collegiate Baseball Division II Coaches' Poll announced College officials Tuesday.

 

                The Pioneers (48-12) received 308 points and is one of two South Atlantic Conference teams listed in this week's poll.  Carson-Newman jumped three spots and is listed No. 27 in this week's rankings.

 

                Tampa is the new top ranked team in the poll, while Sonoma State holds onto the No. 2 spot.  Cal State Los Angeles and Kutztown are tied for third while Ouachita Baptist and Georgia College & State are tied for fifth.  TC opponent USC Upstate is once again ranked 30th in the nation.

 

                Tusculum's 48 victories are the most in school and South Atlantic Conference history and are the second highest win tally currently in Division II.  Only Ouachita Baptist has more wins (49) than the Pioneers.  TC has posted seven consecutive winnings seasons under head coach Doug Jones, including three straight 40-win campaigns.

 

                The Pioneers will learn its NCAA postseason fate this Sunday when the 48-team national tournament field is announced.
