TUSCULUM RANKED NO. 10 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL

 

                TUCSON, Ariz. --- The Tusculum College baseball team has climbed two spots and is ranked No. 10 in the nation according to the final regular season Collegiate Baseball Division II Coaches’ Poll.

 

                The Pioneers (48-12) are making their third NCAA II postseason appearance in five years this week as TC competes at the South Regional in Tampa, Fla.  Tusculum, the No. 2 seed in the regional, will face fifth-seeded Florida Southern (40-14) on Thursday at 3 p.m.  The Moccasins are ranked 17th in this week’s poll.

 

                Of the six teams in this year’s South Regional, four are ranked in the top 30, including defending national champion and tournament host Tampa, who is the tied for the top spot in the country with Sonoma State.  Tusculum is 10th while Florida Southern is 17th and Carson-Newman (36-18) is 30th in the country.

 

                The winner of the Tusculum/Florida Southern game will face the winner of the Carson-Newman/Florida Gulf Coast game on Friday.  The loser of the TC/Florida Southern contest will the face the loser between Tampa and Stillman in an elimination game on Friday.
