TUSCULUM RANKED NO. 13 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL POLL

 

                TUCSON, Ariz. --- Tusculum College has climbed one spot and is ranked No. 13 in the nation according to the latest Collegiate Baseball Division II Coaches’ Poll announced officials.  The Pioneers (40-13), who were idle, last week, have won eight of their last nine games.

 

                The TC Baseball team is in Tampa, Fla. this week, playing in the NCAA II South Regional, hosted by the University of Tampa.  Tampa, the two-time defending national champions, are ranked third in this week’s poll.

 

                There is two-way tie for the top spot in this week’s rankings.  Mount Olive and Delta State are tied for first with 472 total points.  Following Tampa is Sonoma State and Emporia State to round out the top five.  Abilene Christian and Cal State Chico are tied for sixth, followed by Columbus State, Southern Arkansas and USC Aiken.

 

                UC San Diego is 11th, followed by Nebraska-Omaha, Tusculum, North Georgia, Valdosta State, West Alabama, Catawba, St. Joseph’s (Ind.), Wayne State (Neb.), West Virginia State, Franklin Pierce, Grand Valley State, Central Missouri, West Chester, Western Oregon, Ouachita Baptist, Francis Marion, Mesa State, Erskine, St. Edward’s (Texas) and Cal State Stanislaus to round out the poll.

 

                Tusculum opens South Regional action on Thursday when the No. 2 seed Pioneers face fifth-seeded Carson-Newman at 3 p.m. from the UT Baseball Stadium.
