TUSCULUM’S JORDAN LEAR NAMED SAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 

Jordan LearROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College's Jordan Lear has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, announced league officials Tuesday.

 

Lear, a 6-7 junior forward from Zanesville, Ohio, averaged 22.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in leading Tusculum to a pair of wins before the Christmas Break over USC Aiken (65-61) and King (57-55) on December 16 and 19, respectively.

 

In the win on the road against USC Aiken, the Zanesville High School graduate poured in a season-high 27 points including 20 markers in the second half.   The 2006-07 Preseason All-Conference selection added 18 points in a home victory against King.

 

Lear shot 71 percent (17-of-24) from the field and 4-of-8 from three-point land in the two contests.

 

He currently leads the Pioneers in scoring averaging 14.5 points per game, including 17.4 ppg in his last seven outings.  Tusculum will open conference play Wednesday night when it hosts Presbyterian College for an 8 p.m. contest.

 

The SAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week is selected by a vote of the league's nine sports information directors.
