JORDAN LEAR NAMED SAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

--- Tusculum College forward Jordan Lear has been the South Atlantic
Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week announced league officials
Monday. This marks the second time in his career that
Lear has earned this honor.
Lear, a 6-9,
245-pound senior from Zanesville, Ohio, averaged 21.7 points per game in
leading the Pioneers to a 3-0 record last week including a pair of South
Atlantic Conference victories.
The Zanesville High School graduated
opened the week with 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting in Tusculum’s 67-64 win
over Concord Monday before hitting 7-of-11 shots for 19 points in TC’s 73-67
overtime victory against league-foe Lincoln Memorial last Wednesday.
Lear capped the week with
the game-winning three-pointer with 1.3 seconds left in Tusculum’s 82-79 win
over Catawba on Saturday. Lear finished with 21 points, including 17
points in the second half, to go along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Lear currently leads the
team in scoring (18.4 ppg) and rebounding (7.1 rpg).
The Pioneers (8-7, 2-1 SAC)
return to action Saturday afternoon when they host in-state opponent
Carson-Newman for a 4 p.m. contest.
Tusculum is riding a three-game winning streak and has won seven of its
last 10 outings.
The South Atlantic
Conference Basketball Player of the Week is selected by a vote by the league’s
eight sports information directors.
