DOUGLAS TSHOMBA NAMED TO ALL-SAC BASKETBALL TEAM

                ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College forward Douglas Tshomba has been named to the 2005-06 All-South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Second Team announced league officials Tuesday.  Tshomba, a 6-7 senior from Brussels, Belgium, becomes the seventh player in school history to earn All-SAC honors.

 

                Tshomba is averaging 13.3 points per game, which is tied for eighth in the league.  He is also ranked 14th in the conference in rebounding (5.0 rpg), third in free throw percentage (83.3%), 12th in three-point percentage (36.9%), fourth in three-point field goals made per game (2.15 avg) and tied for 10th in blocked shots (0.67 bpg).

                Tshomba, a 2005 SAC All-Tournament honoree, is averaging 19.8 points in his last 11 contests and has scored at least 20 points on six occasions.  On Jan. 18, he scored a career-high 36 points in a road win at Carson-Newman College.  Earlier this month, he came up two markers shy of a career-high with 34 points against Mars Hill College.  In his last 11 outings, he is also shooting 44.2 percent from three-point territory.  Tshomba was also named SAC Player of the Week once this year.

 

                Tusculum senior guard Donald Sexton was named SAC Statistical Champion in two categories.  For a second straight year, Sexton led the conference in assists, dishing out 5.38 helpers per game, which are also 32nd in NCAA Division II.  The Oneida, Tenn. product also leads the conference in assist to turnover ratio, posting a rating of 1.92.  Sexton earned SAC Player of the Week honors on two occasions this season.

 

                The Pioneers will open play on Wednesday in the quarterfinal round of the Food Lion South Atlantic

Conference Tournament.  Tusculum will be the No. 6 seed and will travel to Salisbury, N.C. for a 7 p.m. contest against No. 3 Catawba College.
