DAN WALTER NAMED TUSCULUM MEN'S BASKETBALL ASSISTANT

Dan Walter                GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Dan Walter has been named the new assistant men's basketball coach at Tusculum College announced Pioneer head coach Jim Boone.  Walter will assist with all aspects of the men’s basketball program, with an emphasis on recruiting, development of the post players, scouting, teaching, game preparation and summer camps

Walter comes to the Tusculum campus after serving the last two seasons as an assistant coach on the Adrian College staff.  He served as the team's recruiting coordinator while working primarily with the development of the Bulldogs' post players.  Last year's squad posted a 10-15 record, but finished tied for fourth in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).  Prior to returning to his alma mater at Adrian, he served on the coaching staff at NCAA Division II Tiffin University where he recruited and mentored two NCAA II All-Independent Players.

"We're very excited to have a coach of Dan Walter's demonstrated coaching abilities and experience at Tusculum College," said Coach Boone.  He has very strong academic credentials, and his outstanding success in recruiting the Ohio area will be a strong attribute for our coaching staff.  He will make an immediate impact upon our program, not only as a teacher, but also in the infusion of talent into our program through his relentless recruiting efforts.  However, for all that Dan brings to our program as a coach, teacher, and recruiter he's an even better person.  He will be an outstanding ambassador of our basketball program and Tusculum College."

During his collegiate playing career, he was a four-time All-MIAA selection at Adrian where he ranks second all-time in scoring with 1,620 points.  The former All-Region selection and team most valuable player led the MIAA in scoring as a senior, averaging 19.4 points per game.

"I'm very excited to have this opportunity to be at Tusculum College," said Walter.  "I'm also excited to be working with Coach Boone, whose reputation of winning and success is known throughout the country.  I'm looking forward to this upcoming season and to help the program achieve success.  The team has several talented players returning along with a strong recruiting class.  I'm grateful for this opportunity."

Walter, a native of Tiffin, Ohio, earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Adrian in 2003.  In 2006, he earned a Master's of Business Administration from Tiffin.
