JASMINE GUNN NAMED SAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ROCK
HILL, S.C.
--- Tusculum College's Jasmine Gunn
has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday. This marks the second straight week Gunn has
earned this honor.
Gunn averaged 20 points per game to lead Tusculum to a
pair of wins last week. The Pioneers (14-2, 4-0 SAC) are riding an 11-game
winning streak, the longest active streak in the league and the second longest
in school history.
Gunn, a 5-0 native of Nashville, Tenn., shot 60.9 percent
from the floor and averaged 7.5 assists per game last week.
In Tusculum’s 114-59 rout of Converse, Gunn carded 17 points
and nine assists in just 23 minutes of action.
The Antioch High School standout shot 7-for-9 from the floor, hauled
in six rebounds and recorded her first collegiate blocked shot.
In TC’s 79-74 South Atlantic Conference win over in-state
foe Carson-Newman, Gunn led all scorers with 23 points, including an acrobatic
lay-up in the final minute of the game to preserve the Pioneer win.
She also dished out six assists and shot 9-for-11 from the free throw
line as TC is off to its first 4-0 league start since joining the SAC in 1999.
Gunn is averaging 18.5 points per game in conference outings
and was named the South Atlantic Conference player of the Week earlier this
season.
The SAC Player of the Week is selected by a vote of the
league’s sports information directors.
