TUSCULUM
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TO HOST WBCA“THINK
PINK” NIGHT WEDNESDAY
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College women’s basketball team
will host its WBCA “Think Pink” Night, at this Wednesday’s South Atlantic
Conference home game against Wingate University. The game will tip-off at 6 p.m. at Pioneer Arena.
The WBCA’s “Think Pink”
initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women’s Basketball Coaches
Association’s nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on
the court, across college campuses, in communities and beyond.
Tusculum women’s basketball
players, coaches and support staff will be wearing pink on game day to promote
awareness of this dreaded disease. Half
of all gate proceeds for Wednesday’s women’s game will be donated to the Kay Yow/WBCA
Cancer Fund. Additional donations will
also be collected throughout the evening’s festivities.
Tusculum is asking all fans in
attendance to wear pink at the game as well.
The WBCA began its “Think Pink” movement
in 2007 and over 800 colleges and universities have committed to this campaign
this year, which will be held during home games from Feb. 8-17.
The Pioneers (19-3, 9-1 in South
Atlantic Conference) have tied matched its best start to a season (through 22
games) in school history. Tusculum is in
first place in the league, with Wingate a half game out in second place with an
8-1 conference record. The Pioneers have
won four straight games and 16 of their last 17. TC’s lone league loss came last month in an
89-80 road setback at Wingate.
