LISTED IN NCAA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL STATISTICS
INDIANAPOLIS --- The Tusculum College women’s basketball team is
fourth in the nation in scoring offense according to this week’s NCAA Division
II statistics announced College officials Tuesday.
The Pioneers (19-3, 9-1 in South
Atlantic Conference) are averaging 80.9 points per game, which is also tops in
the league. Tusculum is also listed
sixth in assist/turnover ratio (1.18), 10th in assists per game
(18.4 apg), 10th in field goal percentage
(.464), 13th in won-lost percentage (.864), 19th in
blocked shots per game (4.5 bpg), 20th in
scoring margin (+14.0), 21st in turnovers per game (15.5 tpg), 23rd in three-point field goals (7.3 avg) and 24th in three-point field goal
percentage (.371).
Individually, four Pioneers are
listed in this week’s statistical report.
Sophomore forward Stephany Neptune
is 22nd in rebounding (10.0 rpg)
and 25th in field goal percentage (.543). Junior Nikki
Van Dine is listed third in the country in three-point field goal
percentage (.480) and 27th in three-pointers made per game
(2.7). Junior Ashli Oliver is 13th in the NCAA with her 3.2 three-point
field goal average, while rookie Jasmine
Gunn is 11th in assists per game (6.1 apg)
and 50th in assist/turnover ratio (1.67).
Tusculum returns to action on
Wednesday when it hosts Wingate University in a clash between the top two teams
in the South Atlantic Conference. The
Pioneers own a half game lead over the Bulldogs and are riding a four-game
winning streak into Wednesday’s tilt.
Tusculum will be looking to avenge last month’s 89-80 loss at Wingate.
The Pioneers 19-3 record is tied
for the best start in school history (through 22 games), matching the 19-3
start by the 1994-95 squad.
