22 TUSCULUM BEATS BREVARD 67-39, PIONEERS COMPLETE UNDEFEATED HOME SEASON
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The No. 22 Tusculum College women’s
basketball team completed an undefeated regular-season at home as the Pioneers
posted a 67-39 non-conference win over Brevard College Saturday night at
Pioneer Arena.
Tusculum (23-3) has gone 12-0 at
home this season and is riding a 14-game home winning streak, dating back to
last year.
Stephany Neptune led Tusculum with 12 points, nine rebounds, three blocks
and four steals. Jasmine Gunn added 11
points and eight assists, while Shantae Shank
finished with 10 points on 5-for-7 shooting.
Brevard’s Samantha Winn accounted for 11 markers, while Holly Krogman tallied 10 points and eight rebounds in the loss.
Junior Ashli Oliver recorded her 271st career three-point field to
take over sole possession of the all-time South Atlantic Conference record in
that category.
The Pioneers led wire-to-wire in
the game as TC scored the opening six points of the contest and led 30-18 at
the half.
Tusculum
out-rebounded BC by a 42-27 margin, including 14-3 on the offensive glass. Tusculum shot 41 percent from the floor,
while limiting Brevard to 28.2 percent shooting in the game.
In the second period, Tusculum
scored the first eight points and later used a 19-5 spurt as the Pioneers won
their eighth straight game and completes the season sweep over the Tornados
(8-17).
Tusculum returns to league
action on Wednesday when they wrap-up the regular season at Mars Hill
College. A win on Wednesday would clinch
Tusculum the outright league title.
