TUSCULUM LISTED IN FINAL NCAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL STATISTICS

 

                INDIANAPOLIS --- The final 2006-07 NCAA Division II women's basketball statistics have been released and Tusculum College is listed in five team categories, while three Pioneers are listed individually.

 

                Sophomore Ashli Oliver ended the year with a school and South Atlantic Conference record 103 three-point field goals, averaging out to 3.6 per game which the third best in the nation.  Oliver, a 5-10 guard from Kokomo, Ind., shot 103-for-250 for 41.2 percent from beyond the arc which is 27th in the country.  Oliver averaging 13.5 points per game and was named to the All-Conference Second Team.

 

                Senior guard Brooke Underwood was once again one of the national leaders in assists per game.  The Knoxville, Tenn. product averaged 7.9 assists per game, a year after leading all three NCAA divisions in that same category.  Underwood dished out 229 assists this season, the second most in a TC campaign in school history.  Underwood wraps up her Tusculum career with 580 assists, the second most in school history and fourth most in the SAC record book.   She averaged 13.5 points and nine assists per game during the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament as the Pioneers advanced to the semifinal round for a second straight year.  For her efforts, Underwood was named to the SAC All-Tournament team.

 

                Tusculum freshman center Lindsay Barta (Kalamazoo, Mich.) ended a splendid rookie season 25th in the land in blocked shots with 2.1 rejections per game.  Barta's 58 blocks are the second most in a season at TC and already the third most in a career by a Pioneer.

 

                Tusculum finished fifth as a team in three-point field goals per game averaging 8.7 treys per game.  The 252 three-pointers are the most ever by a Tusculum team and the second most in SAC history.  TC also finished eighth in blocked shots (5.0 bpg), 21st in three-point field goal percentage (36.5%), 35th in assists per game (16.1 apg) and 41st in turnovers per game (16.1 tpg).

 

                Tusculum ended the 2006-07 campaign with a 16-13 overall record, the Pioneers second consecutive winning season.
