LADY SAINTS MOVE TO 4-0 WITH 80-62 WIN OVER TUSCULUM

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University used a 35-point performance from Syretha Marble and a 48-point second half to record an 80-62 victory over Tusculum College Saturday afternoon in the final game of the Lady Saints Classic.

North Georgia started to pull away in the first half on a three-pointer from Kourtney Singlton with just under 12 minutes to play to give the Lady Saints an 18-14 lead. Marble would add to the lead with a lay-up with 9:23 on the clock for a 22-14 lead, but the Pioneers kept it close and a jumper from Shantae Shank cut the Lady Saints’ lead to six points at 22-16.

Marble extended the North Georgia lead to 11 at 29-18 which was their largest lead of the half, but Tusculum fought back and went on a 14-3 run to end the half and tie the score 32-32 at the break.

The Pioneers came out firing in the second half and took a 38-37 lead on a jumper by Kat Spears, but North Georgia took the lead right back on another jumper my Marble for a 39-38 advantage with 15:22 left in the game. Over the final 15 minutes, the Lady Saints would outscore Tusculum 42-24 to claim their fourth win of the year.

Marble set a career-high with 35 points and also pulled down 10 rebounds and added three assists. Singelton had her second big game of the tournament, pouring in 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds of her own.

Jasmine Gunn led Tusculum with 17 points while Shank added 16, and Stephany Neptune chipped in 12.

The Pioneers return to action next Saturday when they travel to Brevard College for a 2 p.m. contest.
