TUSCULUM MEN PICKED SIXTH, WOMEN SEVENTH IN SAC PRESEASON CROSS COUNTRY POLLS

 

                ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The 2007 South Atlantic Conference Preseason Cross Country Coaches’ Polls have been released by the league office Wednesday.  The Tusculum men’s team is picked to finish sixth, while the Pioneer women have been selected to post a seventh place finish at this October’s conference championship in Salisbury, N.C.

 

                The Tusculum men received 22 points and are ranked sixth according to the league’s eight head coaches.  Mars Hill College received 62 total points, including seven first place votes.  Lenoir-Rhyne College received the other first place vote and is in second with 57 points.  Lincoln Memorial University is third with 47 points, followed by Wingate University (42), Catawba College (28), Tusculum, Carson-Newman College (17) and Newberry College (13).

               

                On the women’s side, TC garnered 20 points and is listed seventh in the poll.  Mars Hill is the top vote getter in the women’s title run with 56 points and five first place votes.  Wingate and Lincoln Memorial are tied for second place with 50 points each.  Carson-Newman is fourth with 44 points, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne (30), Catawba (27), Tusculum and Newberry (11).

 

                The Pioneers open the 2007 season Sep. 8 when they host the 2007 Tusculum College Invitational.
