TUSCULUM CROSS COUNTRY OPENS 2007 SEASON,

PIONEERS HOST TC INVITATIONAL SATURDAY

 

                GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College cross country teams will open its 2007 season this Saturday morning when they host the TC Invitational at the Greene Valley Development Center beginning at 8:30 a.m.

 

                The Tusculum Invitational is the first of six regular season meets, culminated by the South Atlantic Conference Championship to be held Oct. 20 in Salisbury, N.C.  The Pioneers are led by Coach Phil Roberts, who is entering his third season with the Tusculum program.

 

                Following this weekend’s race, the Pioneers will be at the Western Carolina Invitational in Cullowhee, N.C. on Sep. 15.  Six days later, Tusculum will compete at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational in Hickory, N.C. on Sep. 21.

 

                Tusculum will run at the Volunteer Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn. on Sep. 29, before an Oct. 11 meet at the Erskine Invitational in Due West, S.C.

 

                Following the SAC Championship, the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional will be held once again in Wingate, N.C. (Nov. 3).  The top two teams from the regional will advance to the NCAA National Championship, being conducted this year in Joplin, Mo.

 

                Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
