TUSCULUM WOMEN PLACE THIRD AT L-R INVITATIONAL

 

                NEWTON, N.C. --- The Tusculum College women’s cross country team finished in third place in the Division II portion of the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational, held Friday afternoon.

 

                The Pioneers posted four runners in the top 20 as Tusculum posted 79 points.  Host Lenoir-Rhyne won the DII run with 34 points, followed by King College (38), Tusculum, Catawba College (88), North Greenville University (134) and Warren Wilson College (144).

 

                Junior Alicja Dembna was Tusculum’s top finisher, placing fourth with a time of 20:52:36 on the 5,000-meter course.  Senior Brooke Underwood posted a 12th place showing with her time of 22:05.56.  Jenny Dold finished 18th with a time of 23:21.00 while Khirstin Two Crow finished with a time of 23:24.65 to place 20th.  Cassy Melnike wrapped up the scoring for Tusculum, finished 26th with her time of 24:26.75.

 

                Tusculum returns to action next week at the Volunteer Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn.
