TUSCULUM MEN THIRD, WOMEN FOURTH AT VOLUNTEER INVITATIONAL

 

                KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College men's team finished third and the TC women placed fourth at the 2006 Volunteer Cross Country Invitational, held Saturday morning at Victor Ashe Park.

 

                The men's team recorded 72 points, led by Winston Curry's seventh place finish on the 8,000-meter course with a time of 29:12.64.  Joe Norton (31:04.73) and Stephen Jones (31:24.19) finished 13th and 14th, respectively.  Donald White finished 19th with a time of 32:26.01, while Scott Howard rounded out the scoring with a 34th place showing (37:09.81).

 

                The women's squad placed fourth with 72 points as Alex Frary was the top Pioneer finisher, placing third with a time of 21:00.36.  Sarah Alston (21:24.41) and Alicja Dembna (21:52.16) placed 11th and 12th respectively.  Marci Moore finished 23rd with a time of 24:37.58, while Danielle Hutson finished 25th (25:08.90).  Emmy Johnson finished 29th with a time of 26:03.92.

 

                Tusculum returns to action this Friday as the Pioneers compete at the Presbyterian College Invitational beginning at 4 p.m. on the Clinton, S.C. campus.
