CURRY, FRARY EARN ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS, PIONEERS FINISH 7TH AT SAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

            BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. --- Tusculum College's Winston Curry and Alex Frary each earned All-South Atlantic Conference honors at the 2006 Food Lion SAC Cross Country Championships, held Saturday morning at the Black Mountain Recreation Park.

 

            Curry earned All-SAC First Team accolades finishing seventh in the men's 8,000-meter race with a time of 27:42.70.

 

            In the women's race, Frary captured SAC Freshman Runner of the Year accolades, finishing 12th on the 5,000-meter course with a time of 20:51.40.  Frary was also named to the All-SAC Second Team.

 

            The Tusculum men and women both finished seventh in the team competition as Mars Hill swept team titles in both races.

 

            In the men's meet, Stephen Jones finished 35th with a time of 30:04.80, while Joe Norton placed 47th with 31:15.20.  Donald White tallied a time of 31:49.10 to finish 54th, while Scott Howard and Tristen Cook finished 66th and 67th, respectively.  Ben Morgan (42:54.60) and Cody Wiggin (44:05.30) rounded out the scoring for the Pioneers.

 

            Senior Sarah Alston just missed earning All-SAC recognition as she finished 15th with a time of 20:57.50.  Alicja Dembna finished 24th with 21:31.70, while Emmy Johnson posted a time of 26:00.20 to finish 56th.  Marci Moore wrapped up the scoring for Tusculum with 26:07.70.
