TUSCULUM'S FRARY, ALSTON TO RUN AT NCAA CROSS COUNTRY REGIONAL THIS SATURDAY

                GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College runners Alex Frary and Sarah Alston will be competing at the 2006 NCAA Division II Southeast Region Cross Country Championship, this Saturday morning in Wingate, N.C.  The women's race will begin at 10:45 a.m. at the Wingate University Cross Country Facility.

               

Frary, a 5-5 rookie from Morristown, Tenn., was the 2006 South Atlantic Conference Freshman Runner of the Year for women's cross country.  She was the top freshman finisher at the SAC Championship, placing 12th.  She garnered All-SAC Second honors and was a SAC All-Freshman Team selection.  Frary won the individual title at the Tusculum Invitational posting a time of 21:10.3 on the 5,000-meter layout.  For her efforts, Frary was named SAC Women's Runner of the Week.  She has finished in the top 10 in five of her six meets, including three top five showings.

 

Alston, a 5-5 senior from Morristown, has saved her best season for last.  She finished 15th at the SAC Championship, missing All-Conference honors by one position.  Alston has been TC's No. 2 runner for most of the season.  She posted a second place finish at the Tusculum Invitational.

 

                Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
