AMANDA MUSICK ADVANCES TO NCAA NATIONALS

"Jamie Dyke Earns All-Region Honors"

 

                WINGATE, N.C. --- For the third time in her illustrious career, Tusculum College's Amanda Musick has earned a berth to the NCAA Division II National Cross Country Championship.  Musick recorded a time of 22:58 on the 6,000-meter Wingate University Cross Country Facility to finish third at the 2004 NCAA II Southeast Regional Championship, hosted by Wingate.

 

Musick, a senior from Lebaon, Va., punches her ticket for the 2004 Nationals to be held Nov. 20 in Evansville, Ind.  This marks the second straight season she has advanced the national championship and third occasion in four years.

 

                Musick also earns All-Region honors for the fourth time in her career, while freshman Jamie Dyke finished 10th with a time of 23:48 to garner All-Region accolades.

 

                The Pioneers posted its best team finish at the NCAA Regional finishing fourth overall.  Mars Hill and host Wingate advances to the national championship, finishing first and second respectively.

 

                Tusculum's Sarah Alston finished 20th with a time of 24:21, followed by Ashley King (25:57 - 50th), Rosie Perez (26:04 - 52nd) and Danielle Hutson (27:42 - 78th).
