BLACK EDGES ORANGE 13-10 IN TUSCULUM SPRING FOOTBALL GAME

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Jovon Miller recorded a pair of interceptions and Justin Higgins connected on a pair of field goals as the Tusculum College Black squad scored 13 points in the second quarter to edge TC Orange 13-10 Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Field in Tusculum's annual spring football game.

The Orange squad struck first in the first quarter when Mardale Petty picked off a pass and returned it for a 54-yard touchdown.  Converted soccer goalkeeper J.P. Swaminathan's kick made it 7-0.

Higgins recorded his two field goals in the second quarter and Patrick King plunged into the end zone for a one-yard touchdown as TC Black took a 13-7 lead into halftime.  Higgins connected on field goals of 39 and 41 yards, the later coming on the final play prior to intermission.

The Orange team trimmed the deficit to 13-10 thanks to a 41-yard field goal by Swaminathan.  The Black defense stalled two potential game-winning drives in the fourth quarter, on a fumble recovery by Justin Smith and a game-ending interception by Rashad Montgomery.
