TUSCULUM SPRING FOOTBALL GAME THIS SATURDAY

 

                GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College football team will conduct its annual Spring Game this Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. from Pioneer Field.  The inter-squad scrimmage is free and open to the public.

 

                The scrimmage will be offense versus defense, which will be played using four 10-minute quarters and a modified scoring system.  The offensive squad can earn points utilizing the traditional scoring methods: Touchdown = 6 points; Field Goal = 3 points; Two-point conversion = 2 points; PAT = 1 point.  The Tusculum defense can earn points using the following scoring system: 3-plays and out = 2 points; End of possession on a punt = 1 point; 4th down stop = 2 points; Force a turnover = 3 points; TD on a turnover = 7 points.

 

                The Pioneers will also get a chance to use the new 25/40 second play clock which has been proposed for usage for the upcoming season.

 

                The Spring Game culminates the end of spring football practice.  Over 85 players have participated in this year’s spring drills in preparations for the 2008 campaign which kicks off Aug. 30 when the Pioneers host Charleston (W.Va.) for a 1 p.m. game.
