TUSCULUM LISTED IN NCAA FOOTBALL STATISTICS

 

                INDIANAPOLIS --- The Tusculum College football team is fifth in the nation in turnovers gained according to this week’s NCAA Division II statistics announced College officials Tuesday.

 

                The Pioneers (0-3) have forced nine turnovers through three games this year.  The Tusculum defense is also fifth in the country in fumbles recovered (5) and 18th in passes intercepted (4).

 

                Individually, four Tusculum players are mentioned including sophomore Ryan Tallent (Maryville, Tenn.) who leads the South Atlantic Conference averaging 7.0 receptions per game (13th in NCAA II).  Junior wideout Brandon Dixon (Brunswick, Ga.) is 21st in the nation with his 235 receiving yards (1st in SAC), while junior quarterback Corey Russell (Speedwell, Tenn.) is 25th in country with 542 yards passing. 

 

                Junior linebacker Justin Scott (Jamestown, S.C.) continues to lead the conference in tackles averaging 10.7 per contest, which is also 34th in the land.

 

                Tusculum returns to action this Saturday when it hosts Saint Paul’s College for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff at Pioneer Field.  It will be the home opener for the Pioneers after starting the season with three straight road contests.
