TUSCULUM LISTED IN NCAA FOOTBALL STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS --- The Tusculum College football team is fifth in the nation in turnovers gained according to this week’s NCAA Division II statistics announced College officials Tuesday.

The Pioneers (0-3) have forced nine turnovers through three games this year. The Tusculum defense is also fifth in the country in fumbles recovered (5) and 18^th in passes intercepted (4).

Individually, four Tusculum players are mentioned including sophomore Ryan Tallent (Maryville, Tenn.) who leads the South Atlantic Conference averaging 7.0 receptions per game (13^th in NCAA II). Junior wideout Brandon Dixon (Brunswick, Ga.) is 21^st in the nation with his 235 receiving yards (1^st in SAC), while junior quarterback Corey Russell (Speedwell, Tenn.) is 25^th in country with 542 yards passing.

Junior linebacker Justin Scott (Jamestown, S.C.) continues to lead the conference in tackles averaging 10.7 per contest, which is also 34^th in the land.

Tusculum returns to action this Saturday when it hosts Saint Paul’s College for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff at Pioneer Field. It will be the home opener for the Pioneers after starting the season with three straight road contests.
