TUSCULUM 12TH, WYNNE 13TH AT RENDLEMAN INVITATIONAL

 

                SALISBURY, N.C. --- Tusculum College's Chris Wynne shot a three-over par 74 and is five shots out of the lead after day one action of the 2007 Richard Rendleman Invitational, held this week at the Country Club of Salisbury.

 

                Wynne is tied for 13th place with 11 other players, but only five shots off the pace set by first round co-leaders Johny Pagura of Georgia Southwestern and Presbyterian's Ben Karns, who carded rounds of 69.

 

                Tusculum posted a 307 team score and is in 12th place.  Three-time defending national champion USC Aiken is the first round leader after shooting 291 on Monday, four shots better than second place UNC Pembroke (295).  Presbyterian is third with 296, followed by Carson-Newman (298), Newberry (299), Georgia Southwestern (299), Lenoir-Rhyne (300), Clayton State (302), Grand Valley State (302), Wingate (303), Barton (304), Tusculum, Charleston (308), Pfeiffer (312), Belmont Abbey (313), North Greenville (315), Catawba (316) and Mars Hill (320).

 

                Tusculum's Jacob Scheffers is tied for 31st with 76, while Chase Carroll posted 77 and is tied for 40th.  Matt Brown posted an 80 (T74), while Matt McIntyre rounded out the scoring with his 82 (T84).

 

                The final round will be played on Tuesday on the par 71, 6,665-yard layout.
