TUSCULUM MEN FINISH SIXTH AT ACCUSPORT INTERCOLLEGIATE

CONOVER, N.C. --- The Tusculum College men’s golf team shaved 22 shots off its opening round performance as TC carded 308 on Tuesday to post 638 and finish sixth at the 2007 AccuSport Intercollegiate. The two-day, 36-hole event is being held at the par 72, 7,180-yard Rock Barn Golf Resort.

Tusculum 308 was the third-best final round tally of the day. The second-day charge was led by Matt McIntyre who finished with a two-over par 74 to tie for 10^th place. Jake Scheffers finished in sole possession of 12^th place with 83-75=158. Chase Carroll tied for 16^th with 81-79=160, while Chris Wynne posted 83-82=165 to tie for 27^th. Darren Christie rounded out the scoring with 91-80=171 to tie for 43^rd.

Lander University won the team title with 615, four shots better than tournament host Lenoir-Rhyne College (619). Barton College finished third with 624, followed by Pfeiffer University (633), Limestone College (635), Tusculum (638), Wingate University (645), Lenoir-Rhyne B (661), Catawba College (662) and Mars Hill College (705).
