TUSCULUM MEN'S GOLF TIES FOR FOURTH AT ACCUSPORT

 

                CONOVER, N.C. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team shaved nine shots off its opening round score with Tuesday's 318 to shoot 645 and tie for fourth place at the 2006 Accusport Intercollegiate, held at the Rock Barn Golf Club.

 

                The Pioneers placed three players in the top 25, led by senior Nick Kinzer who posted a two-day 155 to finish in sixth place.  Senior Sasha Catron fired a final round 76 to shoot 159 to tie for 12th, while Chase Carroll tied for 23rd with his two-day total of 162.  Dallas Bassen posted a 170, while Chris Wynne, who withdrew from Monday's round, recorded an 81 in the second round.  Senior Andy Arp, playing as an individual, shot 173, including Tuesday's 80 to tie for 56th place.

 

                Pfeiffer posted the low round of the tournament with Tuesday's 308 to finish at 630 to claim the team title.  Host Lenoir-Rhyne finished eight shots behind the Falcons to finish second with 638.  Charleston (W.Va.) tallied 641 to place third, while Newberry shot 645 to tie for fourth place with Tusculum.  Central Missouri State and Lander tied for sixth place with 646, while Tiffin place eighth with 649.  Queens finished ninth with 660, followed by North Greenville (669), Mars Hill (670), Catawba (670), Limestone (671), Wingate (679), Virginia-Wise (696) and Kentucky State (851).
