CARROLL FINISHES SIXTH, TUSCULUM EIGHTH AT CAROLINA SANDS INTERCOLLEGIATE

WHITE LAKE, N.C. --- Tusculum College's Chase Carroll shot a two-day 145 to tie for sixth place of the final round of the 2007 Carolina Sands Intercollegiate, held this weekend. The Pioneers carded 305-299=604 to finish eighth in the team competition.

Carroll finished five shots off the pace set by tournament medalist Billy Belair of Lander University, who shot four-under par 140.

Lander captured the team title with its sterling 280-288=568 on the par 72, 6,925-yard layout. Catawba College finished second with 587, followed by Newberry College (589), Barton College (589), host UNC Pembroke (589), Mount Olive College (598), Lenoir-Rhyne College (602), Tusculum, Cape Fear Community College (606), Georgia Southwestern & State University (620), Newberry B (624), Nassau Community College (628), Virginia State University (668) and Felician College (757).

Tusculum Matt McIntyre tied for 19^th place with 76-73=149, while Chris Wynne tied for 25^th with 77-74=151. Matt Brown posted 80-79=159 to tied for 56^th, while Darren Christie accounted for a 63^rd place finish with 81-84=165.

Tusculum now makes its preparations for the 2007 South Atlantic Conference Championship, which will be held Apr. 16-17 in Hickory, N.C.
