ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College senior Chris Wynne has been named the 2008 South Atlantic Conference Men’s
Golf Player of the Year announced league officials. Wynne and junior teammate Chase Carroll both earned All-Conference
First Team recognition. Carroll was
also named the SAC Scholar Athlete for Men’s Golf for a second straight year.
Entering this week’s SAC
Championship, Wynne posted a 72.07 scoring average, which is on pace to be a
new school record. The Science Hill High
School graduate posted a career-low 66 at the Tusculum Fall Classic. Wynne captured medalist honors at last month’s
TC Invitational with a four-under par 67 and posted a pair of runner-up
performances in two other events. This
marks the second straight year Wynne has earned All-SAC First Team accolades.
Wynne becomes the second
Tusculum player to earn this accolade.
In 2002, Brent Dyson became
the first TC student-athlete to be named SAC Men’s Golf Player of the Year.
Carroll, a native of Knoxville,
Tenn. (Bearden HS), finished third in the conference in stroke average (72.43)
and won the Tusculum Fall Classic for a second straight year. He had five top-10 finishes and carder four
rounds under par. Carroll was named to
the All-SAC Second Team a year ago, while capturing 2007 SAC Tournament
medalist honors.
In the classroom, Carroll has a
3.89 cumulative grade point average as a Business Management major and has been
named to the Dean’s List, President’s List, Charles Oliver Gray Honors List and
SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. In the
community, Carroll has volunteered assisting the homeless, the “Empty Stocking
Fund,” and tutoring and mentoring at a local elementary school.
