KINZER, WYNNE MOVE UP LEADER BOARD AT NCAA GOLF REGIONAL

 

                CONCORD, N.C. --- Tusculum College's Nick Kinzer and Chris Wynne improved upon their first day performances and have moved up the leader board at the 2006 NCAA Division II Southeast Men's Golf Regional.  Kinzer sits at 154, including Tuesday's round of 75, and is tied for 21st place.  Wynne shaved seven shots off his first round score to shoot 76 in the second round and is tied for 35th at 159.

 

                The 54-hole event is being held at the Rocky River Golf Club at Concord, in conjunction with the NCAA II Southeast/Atlantic Super Regional on the par 72, 6,970-yard layout.

 

                Kinzer, a senior from Chattanooga, Tenn. (Notre Dame HS), bogeyed four of his first seven holes, but scored birdies at 9, 10, 12 and 16 en route to posting a three-over par 75, including a back-nine 36.

 

                Wynne, a sophomore from Johnson City, Tenn. (Science Hill HS), carded a triple bogey on the third hole to shoot 41 on the front nine in Tuesday's second round.  After a bogey on the 10th hole, Wynne caught fire shooting two-under par on his final eight holes, including back-to-back birdies on 17 and 18 to shoot 35 on his inward nine.

 

                Four-time defending national champion USC Aiken boasts a 20-shot lead after the second round.  The Pacers boast three of the top four golfers in the event, including tournament leader Scott Brown, who maintained his opening round lead with Tuesday's 73 to move him to 142.  Johan Cronvall of Georgia College & State University made the biggest move of the day with his three-under par 69 to move to 144 and is tied with Bob Diaz of USC Aiken.

 

                The final round will be played on Wednesday.
