KINZER FINISHES 14TH, WYNNE
31ST
AT NCAA GOLF SUPER REGIONAL
CONCORD, N.C.
– Tusculum’s
Nick Kinzer finished tied for 14th
and Chris Wynne tied for 31st
on Wednesday’s final round of action at the 2006 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf
Super Regional.
The NCAA Super Regional was hosted at the Rocky River Golf Club in
Concord. Teams
and individuals from the Division II Southeast and Atlantic regions competed in the event.
For
Kinzer (Chattanooga, Tenn.),
it was his final round of golf as a member of the Pioneer squad. He made the most of the opportunity, firing
a two-over-par 74, his best round of the 54-hole event.
Kinzer
concluded the tournament 12 stokes over par, posting a total score of 228
(79-75-74=228). On the final day of action, he surged seven
places up the leader board to tie for 14th. He was one-over on both the front and back sides
of the par-72, 6,970-yard course.
Wynne
(Johnson City, Tenn.)
carded a final-round 79 to finish the event with a 22-over-par 238 (83-76-79=238).
In the final round, the sophomore was just two over on the front nine
(38) but went seven over (41) after making the turn.
Kinzer
and Wynne were the third and fourth players in the history of the Tusculum
men’s golf program to compete in the NCAA Regional.
Defending
national champion USC-Aiken won the event with a three-round score of 875,
37 strokes ahead of second-place Columbus
State. Aiken also claimed the top two individual spots,
with Scott Brown (211) holding
off teammate Bob Diaz (216) in
the final standings.
