TUSCULUM'S CARROLL FINISHES 34TH, WYNNE 39TH AT NCAA GOLF REGIONAL

POOLER, Ga. --- Tusculum College sophomore Chase Carroll carded a final round 79 to post a three-day 244 to finish 34th at the 2007 NCAA Division II Southeast Men's Golf Regional held this week at Savannah Quarters Country Club.

Carroll (Knoxville, Tenn.) carded improvement for each round (85-80-79=244) while making his first-ever NCAA postseason appearance.

Junior teammate Chris Wynne (Johnson City, Tenn.) tallied a 54-hole total of 254 (82-82-90) to finish 39th in the individual competition.

Carroll birdied three holes in his final round, including two on the back nine as he shot a one-over par 37 for the inward side.  Wynne, making his second straight NCAA Regional, managed seven pars, but shot double bogey or worse on his final three holes.

Jake Amos of Lander University captured medalist honors for the regional shooting 75-76-72=223 (+7), one shot better than the Columbus State duo of Andrew Georgiou and Christian Ries, who finished with 224.  Columbus State won the region championship and advances to the national championship, to be held later this month.

Carroll and Wynne wrap up successful seasons.  Carroll won medalist honors for two tournaments, including last month's South Atlantic Conference Championship.  He also earned All-SAC honors and was named the league's Scholar Athlete of the Year.  Wynne finished first at the Anderson Invitational and garnered All-SAC First Team recognition.
