CHASE
CARROLL NAMED TO ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT AT-LARGE TEAM
BRISTOL, Conn. --- Tusculum College golfer Chase Carroll has been named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV
College Division At-Large First Team announced officials Friday.
Carroll, a junior from
Knoxville, Tenn., has accumulated a 3.85 grade point average, while majoring in
Business Management. He was named the
South Atlantic Conference Scholar Athlete for Men’s Golf for a second straight
season, while also earning All-SAC First Team honors.
Chase advances to the Academic
All-America® ballot, which will be announced next month.
Carroll posted a 73.05 scoring
average this year, which was second on the team and third in the league. But his career 75.21 stroke average is
presently the lowest in school history, just ahead of former All-American Todd
Ricker (1992-96, 75.27 avg.).
The Bearden High School graduate
recorded six top-10 performances, including a sixth place showing at the NCAA
Division II Southeast Regional, the best finish ever by a Pioneer at a NCAA
Championship event. He captured medalist
honors at the Tusculum Fall Classic for a second straight year and finished
second at the Anderson Invitational. The
two-time All-SAC pick recorded five sub-par rounds, including a season-best 67
in the final round of the Tusculum Fall Classic. His NCAA Regional appearance was his second
straight postseason trip.
Carroll has been named to the
Dean’s List, President’s List, Charles Oliver Gray Honors List and the SAC
Commissioner’s Honor Roll. In the
community, Carroll has volunteered assisting the homeless, the “Empty Stocking
Fund,” and tutoring and mentoring at a local elementary school.
Members of the ESPN The Magazine
Academic All-District Team are selected by the College Sports Information
Directors of America, which include all colleges and universities from
Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Ohio and Michigan comprising District IV.
