MATT McINTYRE WINS TRI-CITIES PGA JUNIOR AMATEUR

 

                BRISTOL, Va. --- Tusculum College signee Matt McIntyre birdied the second playoff hole to win the 2006 Tri-Cities PGA Junior Amateur Championship, held Monday at The Virginian.

 

                McIntyre, a rising freshman from Greeneville, Tenn., hit his tee shot on the 165-yard second hole to within a foot for a tap-in birdie and a playoff win over Dane Voss of Jonesborough, Tenn. to capture the boys' 16-18 age group.  McIntyre and Voss each carded a three-over par 75 in regulation play.

 

                The Greeneville High School graduate previously claimed medalist honors at the Greene County Junior Championship, while placing second at the Morristown Invitational.  He finished 24th at the Tennessee State Junior Tournament and also logged an 11th place showing at the William Bryan Junior Championship.

 

                Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn. and affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
