WYNNE, PIONEERS ONE SHOT OUT OF THE LEAD AT ANDERSON INVITATIONAL

 

                ANDERSON, S.C. --- Tusculum College's Chris Wynne fired a four-under-par 68 and is one shot out of the lead following the opening round of the 2006 Anderson University Invitational Monday.  The Pioneers posted a team score of 288 and are also one shot out of the lead, trailing tournament host Anderson (287).

 

Wynne is in third place and one stroke behind co-leaders Nathan Irvin of North Greenville University and Limestone College's Paul Butler, who each posted 67.  Joining Wynne in the top 10 is Matt Brown who posted a one-under 71 and is tied for eighth place.  Chase Carroll posted a 73 and is tied for 12th place while Jake Scheffers is tied for 25th following Monday's opening 76.  Will Loggins rounded out the team scoring with 81 (T38th).  Greeneville, Tenn. freshman Weston Ward was solid in his collegiate debut as he fired a 73, playing as an individual and is tied for 12th place.

 

North Greenville is third with 290, followed by Wingate University (294), Lincoln Memorial University (295), Mount Olive College (298), Limestone College (304), St. Andrews Presbyterian College (306) and Tri-County Community College (318).

 

                The final round will be played on Tuesday.
