PIONEERS WIN WITH WYNNE AT ANDERSON INVITATIONAL

ANDERSON, S.C. --- Tusculum College's Chris Wynne eagled the final hole to win medalist honors and paced the Pioneers to the team title at the 2006 Anderson University Invitational Tuesday afternoon.

Wynne, a junior from Johnson City, Tenn., eagled twice on Tuesday's inward nine to shoot a final round 69 and post a two-day school record 137 (-5) to edge North Greenville University's Nathan Irvin by one shot (138).

The Pioneers captured the team title by shooting a 36-hole score of 578, including Tuesday's 290 to defeat tournament host Anderson by two shots (580).

Tusculum's Chase Carroll (Knoxville, Tenn.) posted a one-under par 71 to finish with 144 and tied for sixth place. Matt Brown tied for 11^th with 71-75=146, while Jake Scheffers (Greeneville, Tenn.) posted a 151 to tie for 25^th. Will Loggins (Crossville, Tenn.) fired a 163 (T39), while Weston Ward (Greeneville, Tenn.) tied for 19^th with his 148, playing as an individual competitor.

Wingate University finished third with 583, followed by North Greenville (588), Lincoln Memorial University (589), Mount Olive College (599), Limestone College (609), St. Andrews Presbyterian College (611) and Tri-County Community College (636).

Wynne's 137 breaks the previous school record held by Todd Ricker, who posted 138 at the Eagles' Graysburg Tournament in 1995. Wynne's two-day score is also the fourth-lowest in South Atlantic Conference history. The 578 team mark is the second lowest 36-hole score for the Pioneers, two off the mark set at the 2002 SAC Championship.

Tusculum returns to action next week as it competes at the Johnny Palmer Invitational in Badin, N.C.
