TUSCULUM MEN FINISH EIGHTH AT PALMER INVITATIONAL

BADIN, N.C. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team posted a final round score of 300 to shoot 903 at the 2006 Johnny Palmer Invitational, held this week at the Old North State Golf Club. The Pioneers finished eighth in the 18-team field.

Tusculum was led by Chris Wynne, who posted a third straight round of 75 to shoot 225, one shot ahead of team Chase Carroll, who carded a 71 on Tuesday to finish at 226. Matt Brown carded a 54-hole score of 229, while Jake Scheffers came in at 230. Weston Ward rounded out the scoring with 241.

USC Upstate claimed its first-ever team title as NCAA school by shooting 878, seven shots better than Coastal Carolina. Lander finished third with 889, followed by Lee (895), Presbyterian (896), UNC Pembroke (897), Barton (899), Tusculum, Lenoir-Rhyne (908), Wingate (914), host Pfeiffer (918), Mount Olive (918), Carson-Newman (922), Queens (934), Greensboro (938), St. Andrews (947), Catawba (967) and Southern Wesleyan (977).

The Pioneers return to action Oct. 2-3 when they host the 2006 Tusculum Fall Classic at Link Hills Country Club.
