PIONEERS FINISH SIXTH AT PATTON INTERCOLLEGIATE

 

                HICKORY, N.C. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team carded a two-day tally of 607 and finished sixth at the 2005 Billy Joe Patton Intercollegiate, held this week at the Lake Hickory Country Club.

 

                Chris Wynne led the Pioneers shooting 148, including Tuesday's one-over par 73 to tie for 11th place.  Nick Kinzer tied for 14th place at 150, while Sasha Catron logged a 153, including 74 in the final round.  Rookie Jake Scheffers posted back-to-back rounds of 78 to shoot 156 (T38th), while Andy Arp accounted for 165 (61st).  Dallas Bassen fired a 154 to tie for 30th playing as an individual.

 

                The South Carolina "B" squad won the team title shooting 579, nine shots better than second place Newberry (588).  Catawba placed third with 592, followed by Pfeiffer (595), Lander (605), Tusuclum, host Lenoir-Rhyne (608), Queens (608), Lenoir-Rhyne "B" Team (616), Mars Hill (622), Walters State (628) and Queens "B" Team (633).

 

                Tusculum returns to action Oct. 24-25 when it competes in the Jack Shadwick Invitational in Seneca, S.C.
