TUSCULUM MEN'S GOLF IN EIGHTH AT LMU INVITATIONAL

 

                TAZEWELL, Tenn. --- Tusculum College's Chris Wynne posted a one-under par round of 71 and is tied for 10th place after first round action of the Lincoln Memorial University Fall Invitational, held Monday at Woodlake Golf Course.  The Pioneers carded a team tally of 297 and is in eighth place in the 12-team field.

 

                Host Lincoln Memorial fired a blistering 16-under par score of 272, including a 65 by first round leader Cory Bartlett.  LMU leads by 14 shots over second place North Greenville (286) and 18 strokes in front of Tiffin (290) and Shorter (290).  There is a three-way tie for fifth place with Wingate, Anderson and Walters State each shooting 293.  Tusculum is eighth, followed by Brevard (298), LMU Blue (301), Catawba (305) and LMU Gray (351).

 

                Tusculum's Jake Scheffers and Lawson George each posted rounds of 75 and are tied for 29th, while Matt McIntyre carded a 76 and is tied for 36th.  Darren Christie, playing as an individual, is tied for 43rd following his opening 77.

 

                The final round will be held on Tuesday at the par 72, 6,771-yard layout.
