CHASE CAROLL TIED FOR SEVENTH AT LMU INVITATIONAL

 

                TAZEWELL, Tenn. --- Tusculum's Chase Carroll posted an opening round 76 and is tied for seventh place after day one action of the 2006 Lincoln Memorial University Fall Invitational, held at Woodlake Golf Course.

 

                The Pioneers shot 319 as a team and are in ninth place and 13 shots out of the lead, which is held by first-round co-leaders Carson-Newman and West Georgia.

 

                Carroll is four shots behind opening round leader John Hanson of West Georgia, who carded an ever-par 72.

 

                Tusculum's Chris Wynne is tied for 12th place with his round of 77.  Luke Miller shot 79 and is tied for 27th place, while Patrick Clapp and Jacob Scheffers shot 87 and 88, respectively.

 

                Walters State is third with 308, while Montevallo and North Greenville are tied for fourth with 309.  Anderson is sixth with 314, followed by Wingate (316), host Lincoln Memorial (318), Tusculum and the LMU B team (337).

 

                The final round of the 36-hole event will be played on Tuesday on the par 72, 6,771-yard layout.
