TUSCULUM MEN'S GOLF SHOOTS 284 ON FINAL DAY TO FINISH THIRD AT LMU
INVITATIONAL
TAZEWELL, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team fired a
final round 284 to finish with 581 and tied for third place at the Lincoln
Memorial University Fall Invitational, held this week at Woodlake Golf Course.
Tusculum's Chase Carroll
fired a two-under par 70 to lead the Pioneers on Tuesday. Chris
Wynne posted back-to-back 71s to shoot 142 and finish tied for 10th
place. Jake Scheffers carded 145, including
Tuesday's 70 to finish 13th. Lawson George posted 75-73=148 to tie
for 21st place, while Matt
McIntyre shot 76-74=150 to tie for 31st. Darren
Christie posted consecutive rounds of 77 to shoot 154 and finish 44th,
playing as an individual.
Host Lincoln Memorial captured
the team title with 567, five shots ahead of second-place Shorter (572). Tusculum and
Wingate tied for third place with 581, followed by North Greenville (585), Anderson (587), Catawba (590), Tiffin
(592), Walters State (594), Brevard (598), LMU Blue
(613) and LMU Gray (703).
Shorter's
Alex Lantz won the individual title
with 67-68=135 (-9), two shots better than Adam
Sheriff of Anderson as he shot 137, including a course record 64 in the
final round.
Tusculum
will be in action again Feb. 4-5 when they compete at the Outback Steakhouse
Invitational in Panama City,
Fla.
