NOVA SOUTHEASTERN WINS TUSCULUM/KIAWAH INTERCOLLEGIATE

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. --- Nova Southeastern placed five players in the top 10 to win the 2006 Tusculum College/Kiawah Island Women's Golf Intercollegiate. The Sharks won the two-day, 36-hole event with a team score of 616, 25 shots better than second place Central Arkansas (641).

UCA's Christina Lecuyer captured medalist honors posting 77-74=151 to edge the NSU duo of Lina Bjorklund (76-76=152) and Andrea Maldonado (76-76=152) by one stroke. Catawba's Paige Haverty finished fourth with 73-80=153, while Nova Southeastern's Elizabeth Bond carded a 77-77=154 to place fifth to round out the All-Tournament team.

Grand Valley State finished third with 651, followed by Catawba (672), Pfeiffer (687), USC Upstate (689), Anderson (696), Wingate (701), Lenoir-Rhyne (705) and Tusculum (709) to round out the top 10. Florida Tech placed 11^th with 711, followed by Limestone (720), Belmont Abbey (734), Ashland (738), Queens University of Charlotte (740), Mount Olive (747) and Lincoln Memorial (775).

Tusculum junior Amanda Bowen was the Pioneers top finisher tying for 27^th with 80-92=172. Shannon Palenkas carded 81-93=174 to tie for 31^st, while Mary Beth McFarland posted 88-91=179 to finish 47^th. Rachel Quinlan-Waters shot 92-98=190 to finish 66^th, followed by individuals scorers Amber Ladner (92-104=196) and Susanne Sisco (98-103=201).

Tusculum returns to action Feb. 20-21 when it competes at the Pfeiffer Invitational.
