TUSCULUM WOMEN IN EIGHTH PLACE AT LADY FALCON INVITATIONAL

 

                NEW LONDON, N.C. --- The Tusculum College women’s golf team posted an opening round 340 and is in eighth place after day one action of the Lady Falcon Invitational, held Monday at the Old North State Golf Club. 

 

The Pioneers are 15 shots behind first round leader West Florida, who posted a first round tally of 325. Tournament host Pfeifer is second at 328, followed by Newberry (329), USC Upstate (334) and Catawba (336) to round out the top five.  Grand Valley State and Belmont Abbey are tied for sixth with 337, followed by Tusculum, Wingate (351), Mount Olive (356), Queens (360), Armstrong Atlantic (373), Mars Hill (390), UNC Pembroke (390) and Southern Virginia (422).

 

                Mary Ann Vizcarrando and Mandy Hartsock posted rounds of 84 and are tied for 19th place, while Amanda Bowen and Shannon Palenkas accounted for rounds of 85 and 87, respectively.  Susanne Sisco rounded out the scoring with 97.

 

                The final round of the 15-team tournament will be held on Tuesday.
